Accessing commit messages through the changeSet via Pipeline script

My subject may be incredibly detailed but I was I was curious if anyone has been able to access the list of commits from a change set in .the during the current build.  The sandbox prevents you from getting certain things, as I've read all over the forums/StackOverflow/etc. I've had a few issues trying to get it from within pipeline scripts and was wondering if anyone has had success doing that.  

Otherwise, I'm going to try pull it in from the build via the web API and you'll likely see another post from me in the future lol
