Sending specific Git branch to Sonarqube

I tried using sonar.branch to send the master branch to SonarQube for analysis, but SonarQube continues to reference my SNAPSHOT version from my pom.xml instead of the master RELEASE version. Is there something that needs to be done in order to only have a specific branch referenced?
