Hi,

I believe I need something pretty basic. Like, I have a GitHub repo. And I want to make Jenkins do builds when pushes are made to it. Which job type do I choose? Freestyle project? Pipeline? Multibranch Pipeline? Which is good for what?

Thanks in advance.

Multibranch pipeline

Use the declarative style of pipelines.

IMHO It will give you the best mix of functionality and it is where the development effort is being focused (especially the new BlueOcean UI... which even has a visual editor for declarative style pipelines)

Freestyle -- the most basic one.
In order to automatically build pushes from github you would need to enable the option "Build when a change is pushed to GitHub"
