Renaming the .jenkins file

Is there a way to pick an alternative default name for the the Jenkins configuration file?

It appears the answer is no, the default .jenkins configuration file cannot be renamed.

I have an educational use case for enabling this (ie: I have 100+ comp sci students using Jenkins and CI), is there a Jenkins forum for putting forward and discussing change requests.

You can always file a change request in JIRA at https://issues.jenkins-ci.org
