How to successfully restart a sub project after a failure within the build pipeline plugin

newbie.
I have a failure in my sub project and corrected it. I click on the sub project and restart it, but it seems like it does not restart. The job number is "stuck" at the same number. I can go directly to the sub project outside the plugin and restart it successfully, but through the build pipeline plugin, it seems like the restart does not work, and does not re-associate to the newer sub project number (e.g. the job number is 'stuck' at 75):
