Required core for jira plugin

Hi,

I see in the Jira Plugin wiki https://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/JIRA+Plugin that the Required Core is 1.642.3

This means the minimum core version required or the required core?

Can I use this plugin with core 1.658 ? (This is the latest core before 2.0)
