there is no POM in this directory

Hi

I have configure the maven with jenkins. I am using git for source code.  but when I run the build I am getting this error.

[ERROR] The goal you specified requires a project to execute but there is no POM in this directory (/var/lib/jenkins/workspace/case1). Please verify you invoked Maven from the correct directory. -> [Help 1]

Please guide how to solve this error. I have been trying since last 2-3 days but not able to solve so at last I have posted here.
