Integrate with external credential stores

Does anybody know if it is possible for the credentials plugin (or any other plugin) to integrate with external credential stores like Hashicorp Vault (https://www.vaultproject.io/). That way we can store our secrets in one system and have it be used by Jenkins and other parts of our build / test / deploy process.
