The HTTP call to "/scriptText" (groovy script console) will almost always return 200 even if the groovy execution failed badly: https://github.com/jenkinsci/jenkins/blob/jenkins-2.203/core/src/main/java/hudson/util/RemotingDiagnostics.java#L141-L147

This seems inconsistent. When using the REST API to execute groovy scripts, a user would expect to have an error code in the HTTP response.
