Re: Option to remove from log: "Seen branch in repository blah blah blah"

How does one go about setting options on a slave node?  One would think it would be in "Jenkins -> Configuration" -> Slave > Advanced, and then setting  "JVM Options" to  -Dorg.jenkinsci.plugins.gitclient.GitClient.quietRemoteBranches=true but that does not work.

How does one go about setting options on a slave node using the EC2 Cloud plugin ?  One would think it would be in "Jenkins -> Configuration" -> Slave Cloud  > Advanced, and then setting  "JVM Options" to  -Dorg.jenkinsci.plugins.gitclient.GitClient.quietRemoteBranches=true but that does not work.

I figured out the answer.  The comment above says "on each slave node" but I actually went on the master node and manually edited the startup script in /etc/init.d/jenkins and added  -Dorg.jenkinsci.plugins.gitclient.GitClient.quietRemoteBranches=true in there, and then I restarted Jenkins.  The existing slaves seemed to pick up the setting.

Does this actually work anymore? I've set this on master, but it doesn't seem to work. Looking at the GitClient code, it should work, but...

Setting the system property either via script console or via /etc/default/jenkins does not work for me.

We have several thousand branches in our repository and they are printed upon every triggered build. This is really unnecessary.

Jenkins version: 2.176.1

Git client plugin version: 2.8.0

Jenkins cmdline:

/usr/bin/java -Xmx10g -Djava.awt.headless=true -jar /usr/share/jenkins/jenkins.war --webroot=/var/cache/jenkins/war --httpPort=8080 --httpListenAddress=127.0.0.1 --sessionTimeout=1440 --sessionEviction=43200 -Dorg.jenkinsci.plugins.gitclient.GitClient.quietRemoteBranches=true

Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Option to remove from log: "Seen branch in repository blah blah blah"

Had the same issue, and Karl's note really solved it!
My jenkins is running on CentOS, so the steps were:
1. Go to /etc/sysconfig/jenkins
2. Add the flag "-Dorg.jenkinsci.plugins.gitclient.GitClient.quietRemoteBranches=true" to the end of the "JENKINS_JAVA_OPTIONS" variable
3. Restart jenkins service
Builds output is much clearer now, thanks Karl!
