Signup for jenkins-ci.org vs the spam problem

I just tried to sign up for Jenkin's Jira, so I was forwarded to the sign up page
https://jenkins-ci.org/account/signup

I filled out the form and send it to the server, there I got the response that you have an ongoing spam problem, I should post here.

Due to the spam problem, we need additional verification for your sign-up request. Please contact jenkinsci-dev

This is what I want to do. I should have two requests pending, both User IDs would be chefffe.

Looking the user up I see:

"ID chefffe is already taken. Perhaps you already have an account imported from
legacy java.net? You may try resetting the password."


The email on the account does match your email. I've gone ahead and sent a
password reset email, which you should receive shortly.

I received the mails and finally needed to reset my password.
I think I once had an account on java.net, but could not recall it.
The error message was somewhat confusing, if that was the case

Hi,

Did you actually read the text above :-) ?

There's an ongoing heavy spam attack, hence this more complicated process to get an account. 

You'll have noticed it asks you to read the wiki page, where it asks you to send emails to the newly dedicated ML.

My apologies I was under impression that Wiki required the access I am requesting and started thinking well that won't work.
