Hi Folks,

It's now this time of the year when we plan our Fosdem trip
And I am glad to share that Jenkins project stand has been accepted this year

More information here -> https://fosdem.org/2020/news/2019-11-19-accepted-stands/

We still have plenty of things to prepare so if you are interested to help with the organization, feel free to step up

At this time what do we know:
* FOSDEM 1&2 February 2020
** Jenkins booth accepted
** CI/CD Devroom stay tuned
** Testing & Automation Devroom

But what we don't know yet is, do we organize a Jenkins contributor summit before Fosdem (on Friday)?
Who's in?
Who would be interested to sponsor the venue and/or the food?
Can we organize something to be sure that we always have someone at the stand?

I propose to find a date next week to discuss it
Poll: https://doodle.com/poll/ytkpxupis7a39f7q

Cheers

I will be at FOSDEM! Meeting is a bit more complicated, but I will try :)
If there are slots in the EU morning timezone, it will be great.

I can spend a significant time at the booth (~50% of the conference?), and I could probably prepare demos and slidedecks for the booth.

BR, Oleg

Hey,

I'm also planning to be at FOSDEM too.
Happy to be at the booth a few hours during the weekend to help with. I won't be able to at the summit before FOSDEM though.

I just filled the poll, I hope it's not too late.

I've got a question regarding the two devrooms, are those devrooms merged in one? or are they independent? I see the schedule for the CI/CD one is already in place but not for the testing one , just wondering whether they are managed in the same way, I sent an event proposal, but it's still undecided, just wondering whether it could be moved to the testing one in case the CI/CD devroom is already fully booked.

Cheers

Hi all,

Regarding the contributor summit, IMHO we have 2 options:

1. Widely open contributor summit, as in previous years. Everybody is welcome to attend. As it was discussed at the DW-JW retrospective, the summit may end up as a "community day" when contributors talk to users (depending on how many contributors we get). It is a valuable format, but it is a different one
2. Limit number of participants to active contributors and those who are interested to contribute and willing to participate in foundation projects, e.g. key architecture changes and projects (UX, JCasC, etc.), governance, infrastructure. In such case we will likely get a 1-2 dozens of seasoned contributors and big users.

WDYT? Both options are viable, the projected agenda would be quite different OTOH.

Best regards,
Oleg

I see the schedule for the CI/CD one is already in place but not for the testing one
They are two different Devroom managed by different people, at least for the cicd devroom we were three to review and make the schedule, I sent an email to the testing devroom maintainer to say that we have a lot of interesting talks that we couldn't schedule because of time constraint

Regarding the poll, I propose a quick discussion tomorrow at 3:45, the purpose of this meeting will be to discuss how we want to organize Jenkins activities around Fosdem.

I am not available this week for more calls, sorry. Next week or emails would be better. But, if there is a critical mass of people, please proceed without me

+1 for meeting minutes. We have an Advocacy&Outreach SIG meeting tonight, and it would be great to have notes so that we can discuss FOSDEM there

Hello,
It was hard to have a constructive discussion with myself so here some notes.
Feel free to mention if you are available to stay at the booth.

Thanks Oliver for the link with the notes. I just added myself with my availability.
Thanks Oleg for the update, although I'll miss the first two days as I'll be arriving late evening on Friday, so if you are planning to stay later than 9pm then count on me

Cheers

Hi all. I have created a meetup page for the Contributor summit. Since there was no -1s, I will stick to the "real contributor summit" option.
Best regads,
Oleg
