[Proposal] - Converting Jenkins Office Hours to Jenkins Online Meetup

Hi,

As you probably know, we are suffering from missing speakers and visitors at Jenkins office hours. There are also other online Jenkins events like webinars.

I propose to do the following:

• Create a "Jenkins Online Meetup" on meetup.com
  
• Or "Virtual JAM" :)
  
• Start creating meetups for Office hours and community-driven free webinars there
• Maybe webinars handled by companies could be accepted as well if they address Jenkins OSS

IMHO such improvement should help us to attract more speakers and visitors. So Office hours should become much better from the experience sharing perspective.

+1. I think this is consistent with what I discussed with Daniel & Tyler offline when we all met in Mexico. Meetup.com helps us reach attendees & build relationships with them, and calling it a virtual meetup help people understand that this is user focused.

Hi Alyssa,

I see  the following potential obstacles:

• Formally we need a governance meeting to confirm the budget for the meetup page (several dollars per month)
• Maybe we need to agree on wording changes at Jenkins Office Hours
  

IMHO it's not a blocker for the meetup page prototype. We can even start posting events there by just referencing Office Hours.

It looks like meetup.com does not like "virtual" meetups so they deleted our vJAM. We are in the process of creating another page, perhaps "Jenkins Online Meetup". We will share this link once it gets approved by meetup.com.
