[GSOC 2018] Student Introduction (Discard Build Step plugin)

Hi Everyone,

My name is Jay Shresth. I am  2nd-year Undergraduate Computer Science Student from India. I started my coding journey from very basic and core language c after  that c++ and java and also i can work on the scripting language Html & Css . 

I love to learn programming languages the leaning is still going on. Coding is my passion that the reason i want explore myself to Coding Wold.

Want to work in open source projects and get some experience and contribute in it. I searched  many organisation and their project but 

jenkins projects is perfect match according to my skill and knowledge.

I have read the description of all  jenkings-projects and i decide to contribute or work on one of the project "Discard Build Step plugin".

I read all the descrption and review the "Discard Old Build Plugin" and have my views,ideas  & implementation which all i mention in my proposal.

Please  provide me some more resources to better and deeply understand  the project (Discard Build Step plugin).

Hi Jay,

Thanks for the interest! The project idea is described in detail here. In order to study the idea more I would recommend trying Jenkins and its existing functionality for discarding old builds. E.g. here is a BuildDiscarder extension point, which references several plugins implementing custom logic.

Since you already have some ideas, please feel free to share them in this thread to kick-start the discussion. We also have office hours tomorrow, please feel free to join them.

Hi Jay,

It seems that even mentors do not have access to the final until after the deadline which is not convenient but it is what it is.

It is view-only, so I cannot comment in the proposal. Would it be possible to adjust permissions?

I also wonder about the "I have always been able to effectively communicate with Jenkins project developers prior and during GSoC application period." statement in the proposal.

I do not see any communications between you and the Jenkins community before March 24, this year. I checked mailing lists, JIRA and GitHub. If I miss something, could you please provide links?

Sorry for the typo error in my email proposal. By that statement, I was meant that I'll always be able to communicate with Jenkins developers during implementation phase. I have amended the same statement in my proposal document and uploaded the updated one for your reference.
