The actual use case that led me to this is to remove the implied dependency against CVS. 

Then, less important, but while in the go: update wiki url to not point to Hudson anymore, and update to pom 2.x.

Can someone please ack this and confirm it is OK that I take over maintenance? Ideally Dean :).

I would like to release it to break the dependency to CVS especially.
