That's a private mailing list, so this link isn't helpful.

Since when are trademark requests sent to the board list?

Is someone trying to slip something through while nobody's looking?

Preemptive -1 from me if I don't make the meeting.

I believe this is the first trademark request that I've ever seen that was sent to the board mailing list.  I assume it was because the person making the request did not read the https://www.jenkins.io/project/trademark/ page.

Their request seems to be a request to place the Jenkins logo in a diagram on their slides that shows the high level interactions between Jenkins and other systems.

The image where they are requesting permission to used the trademark looks like this:

The text that accompanied the request was:

Dear Jenkins trademark manager,

My name is Nakazato from Luminous Productions Co., Ltd.

I’m reaching out to you today because one of our staff will be speaking at CEDEC 2022 (at a Microsoft-sponsored session) and we’d like to use the Jenkins logo in the presentation materials.

Please refer to the attached document for more information.

We would greatly appreciate your consent to our request.

I don't think there was any attempt to slip something through while nobody's looking.  Rather, someone was being extra cautious that they were allowed to use the Jenkins logo in a diagram.

I see no risk of brand confusion with that usage.  I don't see much reason why a trademark request would be needed in this case, since it is not creating a new logo and is not including the Jenkins logo into anything that might confuse someone about Jenkins.
