Dear all,

I would like to help more with Jenkins Project infrastructure maintenance, amd I would like to request admin access to the organization.

Currently I am one of maintainers if the jenkinsci GitHub organization and of Jenkins DockerHub, and I manage permissions and service integrations there. The recent Release Drafter and Dependabot adoptions are one of the examples of my work there. I also have admin access in several jenkins-infra repos including jenkins.io and the plugin site. Having admin permissions in jenkins-infra would allow me to help with permission management and with facilitating contributions to the infrastructure components.

My GitHub account is configured according to the Security team's requirements, and I have an ICLA signed.

Would everyone (esp. Infra team members) be fine with such request?

Thanks in advance,
Oleg

I am in favor of this permission grant in order to improve this organization in the right way and reduce the bottleneck of our Github maintenance tasks and I totally trust Oleg to do the right thing.

We currently have four people who 'own' the Jenkins-infra organization, KK, Tyler, Daniel and I, so it would bring us to 5 people which I think is acceptable, but I wouldn't be in favor to have more people with that level of permission unless other owner step down.

I am waiting for Daniel and Tyler feedback before changing anything

I trust Oleg with the increased access.

However, given the presence of private repos containing various infra secrets in the org, I'd prefer if Tyler explicitly agreed to this request as well.

Additionally, apps in this org must never get access to all repos, for the same reason.

(FWIW if we want to limit the number of people with this level of access: I don't remember why I'm an owner -- it could be a good idea to remove me as an owner at least temporarily to see whether this would block my work.)

I do not understand how come we have such repos there, but it is enough for me to dismiss my request for full administrative access. I do not want such kind of responsibility ATM, because my laptop is not configured for such level of sensitive info. My sole goal is to help the infra team and to facilitate contributions to the infra.

Instead of that, I kindly ask to create a new team with Admin access in Jenkins infra components like ci.jenkins.io, update centers, IRC bot, K8s charts, and so on. I also ask to create an empty .github repo and grant the new team access there as well.

Best regards,
Oleg

I don't have a problem with either direction. I'm not as familiar with you on
how .github repositories are used, how close to admin-like permissions across
the org do changes to that repository become?
