Jenkins Participation in GSoC 2017

I was going through the Jenkins beginners contribution guide and watched Hacksgiving videos regarding plugin development for Jenkins. I would to love to know if Jenkins would be applying to participate in GSoC 2017.

Yes, we will start filling the website by the information about the next year GSoC soon. By now you can be proactive and try getting familiar with Jenkins. If you have particular areas of interest, please let us know about them

I saw the GSoC 2017 announcement at https://jenkins.io/blog/2017/02/07/gsoc2017-announcement/, but at https://jenkins.io/projects/gsoc/gsoc2017/ it says that "In 2017 Jenkins application has not been accepted to Google Summer of Code".

Can someone briefly clarify the status? I do have an idea for GSoC, but if the Jenkins project is not participating it obviously doesn't make much sense to spend the time to describe it.

Yes the article was before the application. And this year in 2017, Jenkins unfortunately has not been accepted in GSoC indeed, contrary to 2016.
