Hey gang,

I wanted to start a fresh thread here and hopefully that will get rid of the bouncebacks.

My apologies that I wasn't able to get articles posted this afternoon as I had planned. I ended up in back to back Zoom meetings with students and then my boss needed to meet with me right after, so my hands were tied and it was making me crazy haha.

That said, Charles your article will post at 6pm here, and David yours will go out at 6:30. Josh yours will be part of tomorrow morning's schedule.

I think that covers it. I need a drink. Also, what the hell are the Rangers thinking giving Seager that contract?

So Seager is their SS and Semien is their 2B?

You can, but news is changing really quickly and I see that Blue Jays Nation just published one specifically about him earlier this hour. I'd be more inclined to recommend that you do a summary of all the rumours ahead of the CBA expiry.

Last day before CBA expiry!

I’d like to write about how the future plan is to extend Vladdy, Bo and Teo, but their course of actions over the next year could make it difficult to keep all.
It’s not CBA related so I’m fine with it going out later this week.

Wonder what happened with Rich Rod in Atlanta? They left him off the playoff & World Series roster completely. He’d been solid for them in 27 games and 26 innings after the trade, pitching to a 3.12 ERA... and now they non tender him even though he’s not a free agent until 2024.

I know that on June 28th, it was reportefld that his fastball had dropped by 232 RPM after the ban on sticky substances was enforced. Only seven pitchers had a more drastic drop in that span.

Yes my apologies as well Graeme, it's been a ridiculous week at my day job. It's bad enough that my students came into big deadlines, but we're an eSchool and we haven't been able to access the platform we use to teach from, and have barely had any wifi at work for the last two days. It's been all kinds of fun.

On the plus side, I wanted to let you all know that Jays Journal broke a site record again in November, which obviously makes Fansided happy. I asked our boss again today if I could share the numbers with the team, and he said that we can, but to please make sure that you all understand that this is not to be posted anywhere on social media.

As you know, we broke a site record last month and it was a little over 1.7 million viewers in total. This month we set another site record with just over 1.88 million. That's a pretty staggering number for this site, and I've been around here long enough to tell you that much haha. Tyson and I wanted to thank you all for your contributions, and tell you how much we appreciate the work of a strong team like the one in place at the moment.

I'll leave it at that for now, but if you're looking for content ideas over the next few days or weeks then please feel free to hit us up. With the lockout looking like a certainty here, December could be a decent time to get a little more creative too. Based on the reports I'm reading tonight I'm starting to get a little more optimistic that things could be worked out in a reasonable amount of time, but we'll see what happens I guess.

Hope you're all well!

Sorry Evan, I edited and scheduled your article but didn't acknowledge the email at all haha. Nice job with this one! This is a good example of the kinda thing we can do while the lockout is going on. For those that are relatively new, somehow we survived the early months of the pandemic when there was absolutely nothing new to talk about, so I'm sure we can make it through the lockout too. It definitely makes it more difficult to come up with content ideas, but feel free to hit Tyson and I up if you're itching to write but can't think of a topic.

Hey Travis and everyone,

Here’s a few ideas:

  1.  anniversary of the Roy Halladay trade is coming up. Feel feee to reflect on the trade overall or if you’re up for it, a realistic/better deal the blue jays should have swung for
  2. Reflecting on how the players drafted this year finished the season (not all of them played but again, fun project that requires some work)
  3. Left handed bat options the Jays could pursue once the lockout is over
  4. Predicting the first move after the lockout ends
  5. Potential players the club could sign to minor league deals right now (bounce back candidates)
  6. An in depth look in the rule 5 players the blue jays lost or gained (MiLB portion went ahead on wendesday)
There’s a few for ya!

I am still working on my piece on the parallels between the current Jays team to the 1991/1992 offseason and 1992 World Series team, but I kind of morphed in to a write up on condensing future free agent signing windows like what we just saw ahead of the lockout. I’ve submitted that for your review if that’s okay.

My articles submitted, sorry it took a bit. I switched it to short stints rather than one year deals, as I wouldn’t really have a lot to talk about. It ended up being a really interesting piece to write, had no clue how insane Clemens was until I really dove into it!

Has there been a piece done on Berrios as a Cy Young candidate next year. If not can that be my next one?

Hey everyone,

Can I do a piece that put’s our readers as the new GM for the Jays.

Topics for them to consider would include:

- Who do they resign/trade or go after in free agency.

- Strategies how to win the fans back after a potentially long lockout.

- Areas on the team to invest heavily on

- Strategic partnerships to strengthen their brand as Canada’s team.

Thoughts?

Marc

Sounds good Marc. Will you be adding your opinion/answering the questions as well within the article? Would highly recommend it.

Was thinking of doing something around Sean Manaea and how he could be a great candidate to fill the fifth starter spot.  I know there has been general articles on the fifth starter spot but not sure if there has been anything just on trading for Manaea.

   Let me know
