Hi All,

Some important stuff to cover here.

Don't forget that on November 9th, we are migrating to Voltax and away from Wordpress. We will not be able to post anything that evening unfortunately as it migrates over (likely overnight).

Any draft ideas you have saved will not transfer over, so make sure you either publish or save them on Word to have for later. Please find below links to help with creating articles via the new software (it will ask you to login to your FanSided account). Most of you should have received an email from FanSided on Oct/06 with this information as well.




This will be a learning process for both Chris and Myself as well as everyone here, so we will go nice and slow through what unfortunately will be analytically one of our busiest times of the year in free agency, waivers, etc but we shall get through it together. Please note that this is what we will be using moving forward.

Overall, lots of topics to write about:

1) Guerrero Jr. wins the Gold Glove Award
2) His chances of winning the Platinum Glove Award?
3) Santiago Espinal qualifies as a Super 2 Player
4) Potential non-tender candidates on the Blue Jays
5) Who the Blue Jays should extend first from the young core and why
6) Alek Manoah and Kevin Gausman: where they rank in potential Cy Young award
7) Should the Jays keep Yusei Kikuchi in the bullpen next year? 
8) Should the Jays bring back Jackie Bradley Jr as a bench option?
9) Masataka Yoshida will likely be posted; how he could fit with the Blue Jays
10) Could the Blue Jays look to extend Matt Chapman? Teo? Lourdes?

Lots of things to talk about especially as the offseason starts to get going without a lockout.

If you go on the Jays page on spotrac you can see who’s arb ready, then make the judgements from there! The only candidates I saw were Tapia and Zimmer

Yep, Spotrac is great. I often check it against Fangraphs (https://www.fangraphs.com/roster-resource/payroll/blue-jays) because every now and then you'll find a discrepancy.

That's what I ended up using, SportTrac was taking a while to load for some reason. I just realized I meant to link to FanGraphs, but it's been submitted already. It's obvious where it should be. Blue Jays: Who could be non-tendered this offseason? has been submitted for review.

Hey Gang,

This is another reminder about the Voltax migration happening tomorrow night/Wednesday (Nov 9th).

Only published content will move over. Nothing in drafts or the trash will move over, so if you are currently writing and won’t release prior to tomorrow night, I would save it elsewhere like word or notes for after the migration.

Please see my previous email that started this thread for the links for the new system as well.

Any questions, feel free to reach out to Chris or I.

Alright, all, last and final warning. Migration is expected to take place from 8:00 pm EST and will run until most likely 12:00 pm EST tomorrow. Any drafts you want to be saved, save them to Word or somewhere safe because they will be gone.

Hi All,

As you can all probably see from our website, Jays Journal has officially migrated over to Voltax.

As Charles posted earlier, you will be greeted by the pop-up asking for permission to access what seems to be your page for writing. Both Chris and I had the pop-up as well.

I clicked through and agreed and it took me to the page without issue. I know a few of you have clicked through and accessed it as well. I did reach out to FanSided asking what the permission allows and what the pop-up entails, as I know people have different levels of comfort in regards to access and whatnot, and I have not heard back yet from them at this time. If this is an issue or you want to know more, feel free to send Chris and myself via a private email and we can discuss away from the thread. 

That being said, this is our new software/program, so feel free to play around with it and try different things. Chris and I are learning this as well so please do give us a bit of time to get acclimated as well but ultimately, I have been told this should help with SEO and overall site access which should benefit everyone.

I will get a list of topics out to everyone shortly. If you have any questions, feel free to ask or email Chris and I.

Hey gang, 

Just thought I'd mention that I personally wrote my first article with Voltax today, and I'm crossing my fingers I've done it all right haha. Assuming that's the case when it comes out tomorrow, I'll shoot a quick video tutorial and hopefully that'll make it easier for anyone that might be having any issues with it. It's definitely different and I'm old enough to resist change, but I think it'll be an easy adjustment overall.

You can, but they are predicting a lot of movements real quick once free agency begins tonight, so if you plan on waiting til the weekend you might be a bit late to the punch.

No problem. Here are some ideas for everyone if you are looking to write:

  1. Should the Blue Jays explore signing Chris Bassitt even though he is tied to a QO?
  2. Can the Blue Jays afford to lose their second-highest pick and $500K of intl signing bonus pool to go after a QO free agent given their farm system?
  3. Three pitchers to sign not named Justin Verlander
  4. Should the Jays bring back Jackie Bradley Jr. as a bench outfield option?
  5. Jays are tied to Andrew Heaney. Why the Blue Jays should or should not pursue him (will need lots of stats and information to back this up)
  6. Once the deadline passes tomorrow, if somebody wants to do an analysis on players left off the 40-man roster who could be picked up from other teams via the Rule 5 Draft
  7. Should the Blue Jays consider moving Kikuchi to the bullpen to start the year? What impacts will this have on the rotation? Should they wait until after Spring Training?
