Importing over existing project

Hi, 

just tried to Import Massages app into Demo in mysql. Does not work. 

Which got me thinking WHY it does not work, based on the "Item with ID" message when tried to import.

Andrew, is it a simple solution for that just increasing the ID on import with a higher number? Of course, this would mean a STRICT naming convention, so there would be no clashing of names.

But in the enterprise environment the naming convention IS enforced, so Jam can only benefit from adding option to import an App into existing App. 

Thoughts?

Yes,

It is simple, try to import any app into existing Demo app.

But I think we are not on the same page. This is about Import over the existing App, which is NOT the same App as in export file.

So like a merging of two Apps. That would open Jam as a modular app.

It is just an idea.

Drazen, I don't understand why to import one app over the other.

I made it on purpose to avoid mistakes, especially when the app is in production.

I have two containers for Jampy development. Initially I started working on one, got it into production. Then I copied it into a second for further testing and development. Then I switched users to second container and copied back to A. A then became development container. All worked fine except I have lost ability edit/change file fields outside of DB Manual mode. This was caused by my changing DB manually and then copying data over. It lost something in how DB are defined in the sqllite, and I don't know of a way to get it sync back.  So be careful copy stuff back and forth in with import/export.

Interesting.

My writing is more about how to solve a bigger picture. For example, Django has modules. And the DB schema update etc is done by "migrate" command. 

This enables people to develop modules for Django. 

With Jam, it is not possible to do that atm. I have a feeling that this might work somehow simply how admin.sqlite stores data. 

Even with MS Access it is possible to import stuff from other Access DB, including Forms, Queries, Reports, etc. Takes a few clicks.

Up to Andrew I guess, where he wants to go with this. It won't happen overnight tho, but good to have a chat.

When user or password is not correct the red border line must be displayed, otherwise there could be some error in the code.

Hi Andrew,

I am trying to implement some sort of message notifying the user of the incorrect log-in password, instead of just showing a red border (which most users do not even notice :) ).

On the task builder tree, on the server module inside the on_login() function, I've tried to raise an exception when the user enters the wrong password (I can detect that in the code) but nothing happens.

Any ideas on how this can be done?
