Folks,

I wanted to let you know that version 1.0.0 of the official starter for Jakarta EE has now been released: https://start.jakarta.ee. Please give it a try, provide your feedback and engage here: https://accounts.eclipse.org/mailing-list/starter-dev.

Note, version 1.1 is also well on it’s way and you can use the development version here: https://github.com/eclipse-ee4j/starter. The current roadmap is also outlined there. As always, contributions are welcome.

Please do consider helping spread the word by re-tweeting or liking: https://twitter.com/jee_ambassadors/status/1512227260224483362.

Hi Reza,

Firstly, that's great news.

Let me make a small suggestion.

I would like to state that I was disappointed when I visited the page. Frankly, I expected a better UI such as https://code.quarkus.io/, https://start.spring.io/.

I think such improvement is necessary and beneficial for adoption.

Best

Will gradle also be supported? It is not on the roadmap.

For folks here interested, please consider following this important conversation here: https://www.eclipse.org/lists/starter-dev/msg00081.html.

In short, a UI is definitely on the roadmap, but we do really need to get the project moving with the volunteer contributors we have. It has been languishing far too long and that really does not help adoption. Gradle I am afraid is a low priority at the moment.

All feedback is useful, as well as code contribution. I believe the project is now ready for it.
