Does this help at all: https://speakerdeck.com/reza_rahman/jakarta-ee-present-and-future?slide=8? It depicts where things are with regards to the work identified in the Ambassadors’ Jakarta EE 10 Contributor Guide: https://jakartaee-ambassadors.io/guide-to-contributing-to-jakarta-ee-10/. It shows what was delivered in 10, what is clearly on the way and the gaps that remain.

In terms of remaining gaps, I think the themes that emerge are advancing CDI adoption throughout the platform, deprecating/replacing older technologies like EJB as well as introducing cloud native technologies into (new) specifications.

Note that there will be an Ambassadors’ Jakarta EE 11 Contributor Guide created in a few months. The EE 10 Contributor Guide will be archived at that time.

Subject: [jakartaee-platform-dev] Jakarta EE next

Hi All,

The steering committee have tasked me, as a platform project committer,  to work in the Platform project, to get what  are our top objectives at the platform level for the next version of Jakarta EE.

I assume we can break this down into  Core, Full and Web. What do you think the best approach is to coming up with top project objectives for Jakarta EE next?

For context – this is part of a wider initiative to develop a narrative about the next release at the steering committee level which can be used to provide Early release positioning and messaging as well as setting some direction to individual api projects.

Thanks

Steve Millidge

As promised on the platform call last week, I have consolidated the feedback and created this googledoc for further conversation. Please feel free to add your point of view. The content will be fed back to the Jakarta Steering committee for planning EE next.

Thanks
Emily
