When trying to update the Eclipse plugin, I run into the following error (see gif):

An error occurred while collecting items to be installed
session context was:(profile=C__Users_OMCSESZ_eclipse_java-latest-released_eclipse, phase=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.engine.phases.Collect, operand=, action=).

How do you update plugin? Update site http://update.eclemma.org/ works perfectly fine. So maybe you need to check your network connectivity.

I use the Help >> Install New Software menu.

I also use the Help -> Check for Updates and get the same error.

browsing to the http://update.eclemma.org website generates the following repsonse

<Error><Code>AccessDenied</Code><Message>Access Denied</Message><RequestId>9967F761F2710AC1</RequestId><HostId>T4dkzY1P85wrxYXfctJtYLrtXcoem81W3rV7FTX6DAF1Mli6H7PgJkoJ0IASJy5LaGgF3XracIM=</HostId></Error>

so nothing wrong with my network connectivity

Given Eclipse IDE for Java Developers (Version: Oxygen.1a Release (4.7.1a) Build id: 20171005-1200):

With EclEmma 3.0.0 installed:

And http://update.eclemma.org in a list of Available Software Sites:

"Help -> Check for Updates" finds 3.0.1 as update:

That installs successfully:

Subsequent "Help -> Check for Updates" complete without errors and do not find updates as expected.

Update site was never browsable ( see https://groups.google.com/d/msg/jacoco/7UTpjKcEnac/S8-0zJ7DBQAJ ), which doesn't prevent its usage in Eclipse.

Message "No repository found containing" according to https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=290782 and https://stackoverflow.com/questions/6470802/what-to-do-about-eclipses-no-repository-found-containing-error-messages messages might actually be a result of unavailability to contact some other repository.
