Have any 44 owners replaced the original Yanmar 4JH-HTE?  If so, what did you replace it with?  I’ve got over 7600 hours on the engine.  It has been rebuilt once, over 15 years ago (and over 1500 hours). It just started going through oil like mad, shows diminished oil pressure and loss of power, so it is looking like re-power time. Looking to see what my options are.  I see one boat did a 4JH80, another did a Beta K41621 (60 hp). The 4JH80 looks to be about 2” wider, so not sure how they shoehorned it in.

I looked at a J44 for sale last year that had been recently repowered - the listing is still up on Yachtworld and it says it is a Yanmar 4JH80.    Installation looked extremely well done by Seal Cove Boatyard in Maine.   Id give them a call - great people to work with.

Do you remember the name of that boat? It doesn’t show in the listing.  That is the one I noticed with the 4JH80.

It was Halcyon II.   Here's the only pic I took of the engine install, but it was a very clean setup.

Thanks! I removed the engine driven refrigeration a few years ago due to leaky lines and the final straw of the holding plate having lost its filler solution. So, I don’t have the complication of trying to fit that in.
