I have an original set of lightly-used screens for the opening ports for a J/40 free to anyone who wants them.  Just pay for shipping.

For the rest of us who are trying to fabricate screens, does anyone have a photo of how they fit into the port? So far, I have just resorted to tape.

Down here on the islands in the Sea of Cortez, it’s Not just the mosquitos and jejenes, but the darned honeybees are relentless, once they find a taste of fresh water on the boat.

Thanks,
Todd

I too would like to know how these J Boat portlight screens are supposed to stay in. They have that little swivel tab but for the life of me, we can’t make them stay in. Put them on the inside? The outside? We’ve never been able to figure them out…

The screens are slipped into the porthole from outside. From inside someone rotates the tabs to capture the porthole frame and tightens the two screws. The fit on ours has always had gaps in the fit. One big improvement we made was to remove the nylon screen material and replace it with cut to fit black iodized stainless steel screen glued onto the frame. The stainless moves air a lot better than the nylon.
