I'm reinstalling a few creature comforts that were removed at some point in the past. First on the list is a shower sump for the aft head, granted I'm skipping the sump part and going straight from the shower pan to a diaphragm pump that I'll install under the aft sink BUT I need some advice on how to get that dirty water out of the boat?

In summary, where does your dirty shower water go (aft head)?

Cheers,
Nyle

Pump empties into aft sink. I also installed a Y valve so the pan pump can empty the fridge and then close fridge drain to retain cold air.

Don’t forget a strainer in an easily reached place. You’ll be cleaning it often.

On my J/40, Spada, the aft shower sump drain hose comes up inside the narrow locker just aft of the stove, then goes through the bulkhead into the wet storage bin in the aft head.  The hose is then looped up to the underside of the side-deck and finally down to a through-hull above the waterline.  There are check valves in the hose, but no seacock to close off the drain.

Detail that may be handy if not listed above. Connection to sink is a standard tank vent fitting set just below the rim of the bowl.

Thanks all, the standard vent in the aink that I didn't take a second look at is exactly where the sump is going to drain through.

Appreciate the help,
