My J/40 got hit by a visiting boat.  No note, thanks a lot.

Anyway, the stanchion base is cracked, and I noticed another one with a similar fault.

Anyone know a source? These have a seagull logo cast into them.

Back in 2019 same thing happened to me while docked in Sisters Creek near Jacksonville.  The hit broke the cast hawse pipe at the end of the aluminum rail (stern end).  I spoke with one of the older Johnstones and he had me contact Robin Hood Marine.  They did the original castings, at least for the 42’s.  It is quite possible that they also cast the stanchion bases.  Worth a phone call.

I bought one last fall and installed it over the winter. Perfect match.

Another alternative if rig-rite does not work out is to use a different base that does not plug in to the toenail slots. I replaced two of mine with a model from Defender that sits on top of the toenail and overlaps the deck.  You have to drill through the toenail to bolt the outer edge down.  The inner edge bolt holes are a close fit to the existing ones.  I added a G10 shim under the inner side to level the base and match the angle of the other stanchion.
