This Summer I purchased J-42 Anoria. She was on Lake Erie and we shipped her to Annapolis. When we stepped the mast and put the rig together, we discovered a crack in the gooseneck.

Does anyone know:
1. A way to source a replacement?
2. Have the specs or drawing for one so I can build one on a CNC machine.

Thank you for any suggestions or assistance.

Patrick,

I'd suggest checking with Jay Herman of Annapolis Rigging.   He's been dealing with J/Boats for literally decades and probably can provide an answer.  Here's their website:  https://annapolisrigging.com/

Another idea is to contact Rig-Rite.   When Kenyon (and other mast vendors) went out of business, they bought out the inventory.   They might have a suggestion.  When I last spoke to them, they weren't very organized, but they have a ton of NOS parts.   https://annapolisrigging.com/

You might contact Hayn Marine. My understanding is they got the drawings for hardware from Hall Spars.

Mine is not yet failed, but it’s definitely showing its age. If you wind up with a lead please let us know. I could also be convinced to join a collective buying if a supplier wants multiples ordered.

If you run into trouble sourcing, and can send me the take-off gooseneck, I can digitize the design and create a CAD file of it.  You could then use that file to have a cnc copy made.

Please add my name to a J42 gooseneck replacement list.

My preferred rigger (David Moffat, who is from Hall Spars when they built the J/42 mast) put a nice machined gooseneck on for me when installing the sheave box for my inner stay a few years ago or so. Single block of aluminum, no welds

The shop is called Newport Rigging Group
(https://www.newportrigginggroup.com/). They may be able to sell you a gooseneck or tell you where they sourced that.

Sorry to be so slow with this info. I purchased a new gooseneck from Newport Rigging in June. Cara Read helped me and she was terrific. Cost was $340, which included shipping to Hawaii.  I am attaching a drawing that she provided.

Yup.  That looks like the one I got from the Newport Rigging crew a few years or more ago.

Not sure if the gooseneck is different for the aluminum vs carbon spar. Mike… is your mast carbon?

Regards,
Ed

Thank you all for your assistance to find a J42 Gooseneck replacement. I am grateful to have so a supportive network. I will look at building one on a CNC machine this Fall. I will let you know how it turns out.

Thank you,

Patrick,

Are you planning to call and have them make you one? Let me know you’re timing and if they’re having it sent out for machining I’ll jump on that band wagon and call them and they can do two
