I am still looking for a used J44 in any condition. I figured I would start looking for drawings that I could make my own templates from. I had templates for my T10 and J30 that came with the boats so I am not sure where to get them. Any info would be helpful for the templates or a J44 to buy and use them on. I have 2 44's in the crosshairs but any other leads would be appreciated. One in Grenada and one in NY.

Are you aware of the three cabin J/44 named Orca currently for sale in Seattle?  It's been on the market since Spring or Summer and has had two price reductions.  Now offered at 99k.  I think it's being sold by Swiftsure yachts.  I've been aboard and considered purchasing it.  It has some good things going for it, and of course some others that require attention.  A big part of me still wants to purchase it, but I think ultimately I can't afford to freshen it up sufficiently at this time.  A small part of why I want one is actually this owners group.  It's quite enviable.

It seems to me that the East Coast and Great Lakes J/44s have in general been maintained to a higher degree than the West Coast boats.  Also used significant less.  Maybe because many of the East Coast boats are put on the hard for winter, or at least decommissioned, allowing for built in time for annual maintenance?  I know here in Seattle I have a hard time taking a break from sailing long enough to get anything meaningful done on my boat.  Anyone have experience shipping a J/44 over ground across the States?

Joseph,
I talked to a transport company and the trip would be about 30k and the trip would take too long over the water. I thought about that one.
