ITK-SNAP 4.0.0 causes C++ Runtime Library Assertion Error for .nrrd files on Windows 10

Hi, 

I've had ITK-SNAP 3.8.0 for a couple of years.

Tried the 4.0.0 version and I'm getting the follwoing error every time I load a NRRD file.  You can spam the ignore button and get through but I don't know what downstream effects this has. 

I've screenshoted my vs build tools and all vs packages.

Thanks for reporting, we are trying to work out some bugs in the 4.0 version, so this is helpful! Would you mind trying the build called vtk9qt6 (or the git branch with the same name if you are compiling) and letting me know if the same errors occur?

Hi Paul,

The same error occurs with the vtk9qt6 build.

Also does ITK-SNAP make a tempdir every time an image is loaded?

I'm loading files from an external hard drive and it seems to make a .cxx file on the drive but the tk dir is deleted?

Hi Kyle,

Can you provide a sample image for troubleshooting? 

For the temp file, we don't have any logic in the snap code. Not sure if it could be created by the itk reader?

Hi Kyle,

I did a couple of tests and the issue occurs in debug builds. I'll work on a fix.

Are you also building snap in debug mode? Can you try to build it in release mode to see if the issue still exists?
