Dear colleague

Join us in Antwerp for the 30th Annual Conference on Science and Technology Indicators. This anniversary edition invites contributions under the theme “Indicators for a Responsible Research Future”. STI-ENID 2026 is organized by ECOOM, the Flemish Centre for R&D Monitoring. The conference will examine how science and technology indicators can be developed and used to support diversity, inclusivity, openness, sustainability, and societal responsibility in research assessment and policy, particularly in a research landscape shaped by rapid technological change and geopolitical uncertainty.

Conference Themes

We welcome contributions that engage with the central theme, including (but not limited to):

  • Responsible research assessment: frameworks, reforms, and future pathways
  • Meta-research on global cooperation and competition, research security, and knowledge flows
  • Assessing societal responsibility and transparency (e.g. open science, reproducibility, sustainability, equity, inclusivity, research integrity)
  • Next-generation indicators for responsible innovation, societal value, and long-term research impact
  • New analytical approaches, including AI-assisted metric development and responsible data use
  • Bibliodiversity: books, multilingual scholarship, and diverse research outputs
  • Historical perspectives on STI indicators in celebration of the conference’s 30th anniversary

Additional Topics of Interest

Submissions are also welcome on a wide range of STI-related topics, such as research culture and careers, interdisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity, equity and inclusion, funding and innovation policy, peer review, open science, scholarly communication, research evaluation, societal impact, and theoretical foundations of research metrics.

Types of Contributions

We invite:

  • Full papers and papers-in-progress
  • Special sessions combining presentations and (panel) discussions, and/or presenting a collection of posters
  • Posters presenting research or interventions in an engaging format

Quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods approaches are all welcome. Contributions from diverse epistemological perspectives are encouraged to support an inclusive and vibrant dialogue.
