בשעה שאחרוני ניצולי השואה הולכים לעולמם, מוסדות הזיכרון ניצבים בפני האתגר של שימור מרכיב משמעותי בהנצחת השואה – הגישה האישית והרגשית להיסטוריה. פתרון אפשרי, שכבר נבחן במספר פרויקטים, הוא מפגש אינטראקטיבי עם ייצוגים וירטואליים של ניצולים המבוססים על בינה מלאכותית, בריט צימרלינג ערכה עבודת שדה אתנוגרפית על חוויות המבקרים בפרויקטים של עדות דיגיטלית עם ניצולי שואה המראה כיצד איך ניתן לשמר סיפור חיים באמצעות האינטראקציה עם העדים הווירטואליים ואת האתגרים בגישה זו.
