When do you foresee an ISCCP Update beyond June 2017?

Hi,

I have seen that the last available ISCCP-Basic H-Series are of June 2017 (https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/data/international-satellite-cloud-climate-project-isccp-h-series-data/access/isccp-basic/hgh/) and I would like to know if you plan to update it to months and years beyond that date and for when the update is foreseen.

I would also like to ask how the update mechanism works: are the updates performed on a regular basis or are they triggered, for example, by user needs?

If the second option holds, how can the users trigger an update?

Hi Stefania-

Thanks for your question. We are working now to update ISCCP through the end of 2021 (though it may be only through some portion of 2021 ... we're still working to acquire data). We hope to have the update complete this winter (1-3 months).

We are working toward having regular updates. We hope to begin regular updates soon (next year), but it will depend on the input satellite data and one source is not regularly available, so it holds us back.

I am writing to follow up on this topic. Could you please provide any updates on the timeline for the extension of the ISCCP-H series dataset (currently available until June 2017) and the ICDR product (available from July 2017 through December 2018)?

The continuation of the ISCCP product is essential for comparison with other observation products and model simulations. And I truly appreciate the work and efforts your team has put into making these datasets available. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
