Dear ISCCP team,

I saw on the website https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/isccp/isccp-ancillary-legacy-and-metadata
that ancillary data are available upon request.

The 4 bullets correspond to the following ancillary data:

  • 3-hourly temperature and humidity profiles
  • Daily total column ozone
  • Daily snow and ice cover
  • Monthly aerosol data
I am interested only in the daily snow and ice cover (SNOWICE), for use in the new CIRS retrieval (Clouds from IR Sounders);
is it possible to get this variable separately  ?
From my first view of one downloaded tar file (per month) I see files for each of the 4 bullets within it.

Thank you very much in advance for guidance

Hi
(Claudia has received some data already ... so this reply is for people who find this on the forum).

Accessing the ISCCP ancillary data is just like accessing other archived NCEI data. Because this data isn't frequently requested, it isn't online but can be requested via the NCEI customer service section: ncei.s...@noaa.gov Specific to her question, the different ancillary files can't be separated but files are stored monthly and aren't too large.

Thanks for the question!
-Ken
