Hi all,

Ideas board open

We have opened an ideas board at https://ideas.innosetup.nl

Please use it to share your ideas, suggestions, and feature requests, and to upvote ideas from others.

This board will be open during April 2026. After that, we will close it and use your input as inspiration for our development roadmap.

You can interact anonymously, or create an account if you prefer.

Inno Setup 7

We would also like to remind you of the preview version of Inno Setup 7 we released earlier, available from https://jrsoftware.org/isdl.php#v7

While it has had a nice number of downloads, we have not received much feedback yet.

We would appreciate it if you could give the preview a try and let us know what your experience was, either here or by sending a quick email to ml...@innosetup.nl.

Thanks for your time!

Greetings,
Martijn Laan & Jordan Russell

IS 7 - will it coexist with IS 6?

Is it far enough in development that asking for support from other tools (eg FinalBuilder) makes sense?

Looking forward to test soon.

Yes. You can install all three editions (IS 6, IS 7 64-bit, IS 32-bit) at the same time, even if you only use per-user installs.

The only thing they do share is the settings.

I don't think the release of the first version will take much longer. Am basically just waiting for some more feedback.

The compiler interface as offered by ISCmplr.dll hasn't changed, so integrating IS 7 should be straightforward.

Using the ARP keys you can detect the versions like this:
IS 6: Inno Setup 6_is1 in the 32-bit registry
IS 7 64-bit: Inno Setup 7_is1 in the 64-bit registry
IS 7 32-bit: Inno Setup 7 (32-bit)_is1 in the 32-bit registry

Looking forward to test soon.

Awesome, thank you in advance. Will release preview 3 later today.

Greetings,
Martijn
