For anyone using the Check In/Out scanner in your offices to scan students back into the building, there seems to be a bug with specifically “Check In” functionality after updating to 2603. I’m assuming any attendance secretaries would have already noticed this, but if not, if you have a building using this feature, you might pass this on to them to make sure incorrect excuse codes haven’t been written for students checking in using “Check In/Out” scanner. (I don’t know if Kiosk is also broken, our secretaries just have it as a browser tab they switch to on their computers, so not using Kiosk mode/version currently. So if using Kiosk and not the authenticated page, you might be OK???)
Previously, when a student was out of building and marked with an excuse code for all periods of the day, as can be seen in "Daily Attendance Processing" screen, and their student ID number was entered into
Check In/Out Scanner, and using the Check In tab to show they were back in the building, the "Check In" page would correctly keep existing Excuses for periods of the day up till period after current time. Periods after current time would have had excuses and
comments removed.
After the update, the Check In/Out page for Check Ins is incorrectly overwriting previous excuse codes with the default excuse of "Absent Unknown" (or whatever your configured default code is for your school) and also incorrectly keeping comments in periods
after current time. The secretaries are having to manually re-select correct excuse reason for periods prior to student's return before clicking Confirm and saving.
The "Check Out" function is still working correctly, in keeping excuse statuses up to period after current time. It is only Check In function that broke.
I submitted a case Wednesday and CIC replicated and has escalated to campus, but not heard back yet nor have a bug SIS yet.
