I was working on building my CTE certification PSA and I'm running into a roadblock. I know we discussed this yesterday, but I'm just not getting it to work.

So we have an Academic Program called CTE Certifications where our counselors enter the certifications that students pass. Normally they just put 1 CTE Certification for the year and tie all the certifications earned by students under it.

I went to create an Academic Program called PSA - Industry-Recognized Certifications and was going to add all the certifications under Certification Criteria.

This is where I'm running into problems. If I try to use this I have the following issues:
  1. I can select a score evaluation of Count of Passing Tests and set it to 1 for each test, but then I don't have a way to indicate I want a minimum count of 2 of all the certifications.
  2. It requires Test or State Codes.
So my next thought was to go to Program Criteria and set up an Academic Program and set it to 2. But it only allows me to put 1 or less.

My last thought is maybe set up an assessment that also needs completed when the CTE Certifications academic program is submitted. Maybe set up a task scheduler to look for those certs and update that or maybe an Events & Actions thing?

So my I have the following questions:
  1. Has any fully set this up yet?
  2. If so what did you do to get it to work?

Thanks,

Stacy,

Honestly, until Wednesday this one sort of fell of my radar as a PSA because we were already doing it in the "KCAN Reported Certificate" academic program. I'm going to start playing with this now to see what we can figure out. I am glad to have your notes above to follow on my experiments.

I played with it yesterday and I'm leaning towards having an assessment or multiple assessments. I need to see what our people are wanting first.

Hello everyone

We're working on our PSA setup - did anyone determine the best way to handle CTE certs for PSA?

Anyone get any further with this one?  I'm not connecting why we have to have a separate place for CTE information.  With that being said, all these crazy steps we are having to go through, will it all report correctly to the state?  I'm glad you all know more about all this than I feel I do.

Hi Leslie,

I think the CTE Certificates are one of the easier things, the reporting is built right in to the KCAN extract already. Right now KCK's CTE cert's are all in one Academic Plan. Our person who enters these just picks the specific cert when they apply the academic plan to the student.  Then the extract picks that up and reports it.  I am planning to start diversifying the Academic Plans for our most common certificates this summer. So instead of the generic KCAN Reported Certificates - CTE for all items, we will have one for auto repair, one for ProStart, one for Adobe, etc.
