For anyone using Food Service/POS terminals in your cafeterias, has anyone seen issues where lunch account balances, specifically a negative account balance that goes positive when online payment is made, are not syncing down to a POS terminal? If you login to terminal with admin PIN and do manual data sync and log back in with cashier PIN, account balances are updated.

Our HS cafeteria POS terminal at Troy has been exhibiting this trouble. I don’t know as if we’ve ever had reports of trouble with this before last month. Our MS/HS students can’t purchase a-la-carte if they have negative lunch balance (which is displayed in POS terminal app). There have been multiple cases in the last few weeks where we can clearly see that a parent made an online payment several hours, or even several days beforehand, where that transaction is showing in account journal in IC admin side, but POS terminal is still showing a negative balance. Manual POS data reload with admin PIN login syncs it. (it shouldn’t take a data resync with admin PIN!) The lunch line lady has to decide if the student is trustworthy enough to believe them when they say that their parent had put money in their account. Again, we have confirmed in several cases the student was indeed telling the truth by looking at account journal history.
We don’t seem to be having any troubles with transactions on the POS terminal syncing up to cloud. We haven’t had any new students or staff in last few weeks to know if there are any issues with new patrons syncing down to terminal machine, so don’t know if it is only account balance not syncing down, or if there are other items also not syncing down.
When we checked two weeks ago and last week, POS terminal application was on version 3.3.7 (which is odd as IC online POS release notes only list up to version 3.3.5).
We’ve put in a support ticket, but so far only gotten fairly generic things to check, making sure POS terminal is installed correctly (it’s either installed or it’s not as far as I can tell!), that there are not unused terminals still active (we did have a single unused terminal that we deactivated), and asking if device is on wifi, is wifi shared with student devices. (yes, shared wifi, but students don’t have devices at lunch, and only a handful of other devices in area that could be using Wifi, we’ve never had issues with this in the past, and transactions are syncing fine up to server).
Only two weeks left of school, so maybe it will solve itself over the summer, LOL!
