Dear All,
Posting a photo of tree taken in Yeoor Jungle on 13.06.2010.The leaves were very velvety and soft like some tomantosa species.Can you pl. help identifying?

Hymenodictyon obovatum, Wall.; F.B.I. III-36. Brandi's Ind. Trees. 372. Gamble's Ind. Timbers, 407. Vern. Kurvi, Mar.

----- A large tree. Leaves crowded at the ends of the branches, generally obovate, abruptly acuminate, some of the upper ones oblong or ovate, glabrous on both sides except the axils of the nerves beneaeth, about 4 in. long by 2 1/4 - 2 1/2 broad, pinnate veins rather prominent; petioles 1 1/2 - 2 in. long; stipules ovate or oblong, gland-serrated, deciduous. Flowers pentamerous, small, sessile, or sub-sessile furnished with linear, narrow, stiff bracts at their base in dense cylindrical racemes, which are terminal, erect, pubescent, several together, generally simple, rarely with one or two branches, each generally furnished with only one floral leaf just below the flowers, which is a little rugose above, pure white or cream-coloured, beautifully veined and reticulated and slightly pubescent beneath about 2 in. long and on a shining petiole of the same length; sometimes this floral leaf is absent on one or more of the racemes. Calyx very hairy, lobes lanceolate, acute. Stamens monadelphous in a tube which is adnate to the base of the corolla, but easily separable. Capsule 2-celled, 2-valved, dehiscing loculicidally; seeds flat, imbricate, surrounded by a reticulated wing which is bifid at the base.
