Dear friends,

There is confusion on the internet. Spermacoce latifolia is shown differently in certain sites.

These websites show plant similar to Spermacoce ocymoides ...

AND another set of websites perhaps are showing correctly ...

I hope the latter set of websites are showing Spermacoce latifolia correctly; please validate.

Regards.

In view of this paper
and updates on POWO, this plant should be Spermacoce latifolia Aubl., as originally considered by Dinesh.  Spermacoce alata is a different plant, not found in India.

Thanks very much dear Tabish, for this notification !!!
I tried to find through my posts - as to how I deflected from latifolia to alata, but I could not find it.
I will revise my notes shortly.
Regards.

Yes Saroj,
I had forgotten to add in my post that all plants on eFI, listed under Spermacoce alata,
should logically be taken as Spermacoce latifolia, as S. alata is restricted to South America
but S. latifolia is naturalized in Tropical Asia and Africa.

I think all these links are still following the old belief that there are not two, but a single species called Spermacoce alata, with S. latifolia as a synonym. Infact Flora of China still has that. But in the light of the paper that I sent, and the present status in POWO, these two are distinct species.

Yes, I guess all yo be revised including images on google.
Actually, did not find a single image of the real S. alata.
Thank you.
