Not Prickly- from Sourav ji

Then it is not Solanum torvum Sw. At the same time Solanum erianthum D. Don should have dense stellate hair all over, including pedicels. sepals. I fail to find anything else.
Thank you |
Regards Surajit

The photographs are not well lit but habit, absence of prickles and inflorescence and flowers suggest S. erianthum.

Thanks for all of your comments. From me it is not Solanum torvum or Solanum erianthum
|
I have not seen any single prickels on stem , so I was confused about S. torvum while I was in field and close to the plant. It is along the hilly road of high alleviation |
|
Here is the list as far ECFFB-V-10 (Encyclopedia of Flora and Fauna of Bangladesh) 1. S. americanum 2.. barbisetum |
| Sorry for expressing my doubt over the presence/absence of prickle. I took you as of myself! For, I always miss to note some character while taking photographs, specially the smell of flowers and abaxial leaf view.... really.... and often need to revisit the plant. |
We can skip No. 2, 3, 6, 8, 10, 12, 13, 16 and 17 of your list, since they are armed. We can also skip 1, 9, 14 and 15, for they are herb, mostly glabrous or pubescence. No. 5. S. glaucophyllum = http://www.hear.org/pier/species/solanum_glaucophyllum.htm
No. 11. S. spirale = http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=2&taxon_id=200020606 and http://www.flora.sa.gov.au/efsa/lucid/Solanaceae/Solanum%20species/key/Australian%20Solanum%20species/Media/Html/Solanum_spirale_(syn._S._callium).htm I think your plant doesn't look like No. 5 or 11. No.4, S. erianthum is currently being discussed. So, the only species remains is no.7, i.e. Solanum melongena which is prickly and in some cultivated form unarmed. Now, please tell us your view freely, we are all learner here. Thank you very much for providing the list and starting the thread. Regards |
