Many thanks Saroj ji.
I was confused between S. zeylanica and S. ovalifolia, because of the long terminal inflorescence. I have read that S. zeylanica does not have long inflorescence.
I am thinking this may be S. ovalifolia.
Regards.

Garg ji,
Though S. ovalifolia seems the most appropriate ID, it is not recorded in the Ooty-Coonoor region.
We will need someone familiar with the species of Smilax to further validate the ID.
Regards.

This is what Google AI view says:
Yes, Smilax ovalifolia (often synonymized with Smilax zeylanica or Smilax macrophylla in various studies) is found in the Nilgiris district, which includes the Ooty and Coonoor regions. It is a climber commonly located in the shola forests (montane tropical forest) and forest borders of the region.
Location: Documented in field surveys around Coonoor, Ooty, Aruvankadu, and surrounding shola forest areas.
Habit: It is a large, climbing shrub known locally in some areas as Ghotvel or Kaattukkodi.
Habitat: Thrives in moisture-rich environments, including forest edges and shrublands.
Note: Smilax ovalifolia Roxb. ex D. Don is often considered synonymous with Smilax zeylanica L. in Indian floristic studies, particularly in Western Ghats and Tamil Nadu databases
