Dear friends, and Mahadeswara ji,
Please help with the Kannada names of Hibiscus tiliaceus listed in ENVIS - FRLHT ... bilipatta, kaark bendu, samudra theeradatthi

I have attempted to put them in native script:
bilipatta ಬಿಳಿಪಟ್ಟ ... ಬಿಳಿ = white; ಪಟ್ಟ = hemp, fibre
kaark bendu ಕಾರ್ಕ್ ಬೆಂಡು ... ಕಾರ್ಕ್ = cork;  ಬೆಂಡು = generic name for hibiscus fruits, may be in this context means pith
samudra theeradatthi ಸಮುದ್ರ ತೀರದತ್ತಿ ... ಸಮುದ್ರ = sea; ತೀರದತ್ತಿ = ತೀರದ + ಅತ್ತಿ ...  ತೀರದ = belonging to shore or coast;  ಅತ್ತಿ = some ficus
I am not sure of ; theeradatthi ... please help.

Regards.
Dinesh

Dear  Dinesh ji &  Garg ji,
At the outset I am sorry for the delay in providing  clarification on  'theeradatthi' .   The transliteration in Kannada  is  ತೀರದತ್ತಿ.   ತೀರದತ್ತಿ is a compound  word here .  The explanation is as follows :
ತೀರದತ್ತಿ = ತೀರದ + ಹತ್ತಿ (ತೀರದ = belonging to shore or coast;  ಹತ್ತಿ = cotton fiber ) .   Furthermore,    compound word  form of ತೀರದ + ಅತ್ತಿ = ತೀರದತ್ತಿ  as well as ತೀರದ + ಹತ್ತಿ : ತೀರದತ್ತಿ   are  written  in a similar way in Kannada ( as far as my knowledge goes ).     Therefore the confusion.   In fact  it can also be written  as  ತೀರದ ಹತ್ತಿ , to be more precise.
Thanks & Regards,

Thank you very very much Mahadeswara ji for this help with understanding of the name.
In no way are apologies solicited, because, all such matter requires indefinite time and resources at hand.
Thank you once again Mahadeswara ji. I am going with the compound worded name: ತೀರದತ್ತಿ
Thanks to you too, Garg ji.
Regards.
Dinesh
