very good  observation  esp in that habitat

i have a question: why is it called  Jungli bhindi
i do not know of any bhindi that has those thorn like surface appendages.

I think they are soft / flexible spines. Local folks use the fruits as vegetable. They must be having their own approach for broadly classifying forest vegetables and fruits.
