Dear members,
Saroj ji's postings are very good for not only efi site for accurate and detailed identification, but also for outsiders, who may like to see minute details, which may not be available anywhere else. This is like having high resolution herbarium specimens available at some places like GBIF, Linnean collection etc. He generally resizes his images to say around 2000 by 1600 pixels each around keep them at around 800 kb each. Not only this, he also posts around 6 to 10 images of all aspects of the plant along with close up details.
Recent Ashwini ji is also making detailed posting on a single plant, giving minute details.
That should be our future target for getting good postings in efi group. That is why recently posting guidelines were modified.
Can someone emulate Saroj ji and Ashwini ji in future postings?

Sure Garg ji, it is a welcome change. Eariler we used to resize images to 800 x 600, I have increased it to 1000 x 750 for Facebook images. We can increase size to new guidelines.
For last 5 years I have not visited Himalayas, but plenty of images, especially from California and now Canada mainly of ornamentals. Will it be alright to share these?

Garg ji, ... this is a very welcome change.
Over the period of time, broadband plans have kept on increasing their speed along with more allowance to data download.
Let us hope that members start providing more aspects and details of plant in higher resolution, just as Saroj ji and Ashwini ji.
Regards.

dear All:
that requires one to know the plants you are going to see and shoot
so one can study up and go back in future, do a more thorough job, if local
or be a trained taxonomist to start with

or go back a day or two later, if traveling....
and hope you have internet access where lodging so you can do research at nite....
and be prepared for next visit to the plants

of course there are routine features that all must take

habit
habitat
stem/trunk
bark
leaves...both surfaces, edges

flowers,  all features...face, side view, back view

and sizes of all with a ruler or a reference

and fruits ...  whole and if possible cut open...

and if you are studying mushrooms...
a spore print.
