Thank you Mr. Garg for appreciation. However, I could achieve this feat with the ceaseles guidancefrom pioneers and stalwarts of this group like yourself, Nidhan Sir, Gurucharan Sir, Dinish Ji, Rawat Ji,Pankaj, Tapas Da, Ritesh ji, Manoj Ji and all other members. Time again I have been receivingsuggestions from many seniors to capture the images in a proper way so as to cover all aspects ofplants. I agree that I am one of the most junior to join this group and still trying to improve myself.Thank you all once again from my core of heart

Thanks Gargi ji, Ushadi who is always frank coming from her heart and Saroj ji. Our immediate focus is how to revive our interactions. To me the best solutions looks like reviving Genus/Family Fortnights. To avoid unnecessary repetitions let us first make a list of genera/families well represented in India, and which have not been covered in our group. I am sure it will help in enriching and adding new species to our database. Please do suggest such genera/families

Dear Saroj jiI think you have not understood the power of Facebook groups while making this statement
" However, I feel FB posts are just for fun and not so serious like efi."I have been travelling USA for last 11 years, have shared many plants here also. This year I am visiting Canada also. Earlier it would take me several hours/days to identify a plant new for me looking at my Manual of Cultivated Plants, Hortus Third and Online databases like Japson Flora of California and eFlora website which has N. America plants also. Now whenever I get any new plant, which I am not able to identify easily, I simply upload it to Facebook Group "Plant Identification" which has 1,70,000 members, and I get identification or a clue within few minutes, my database is getting updated very fast. I have passed through all phases since our first visit to Ladakh in 1970 when there was no public transport and we managed by hitchhiking rides from army vehicles, to our own University jeep in later years. Luckily I have learnt to keep pace with developing technology and make best use of recent facilities.

I do agree with Gurcharan ji - that social media is helpful to those seeking quick hints -- which is very helpful to quicken progress of one's study.Speed of response to any post in social media, is at a very high level - as if somebody is / are staying alert enough to quickly give ID. Most of the times I have found the ID given by experts OR those familiar with plant, are accurate. The downside, sometimes, is some people who are at a beginner or at a lesser level of knowing plants, are extra keen OR adamant to post their guesses (most often incorrect) despite comments with accurate ID have already been posted by expert(s). Thus, sometimes, I find there are too many uncontrolled posting that one has to tolerate. But as long as getting the ID or hints is concerned, facebook or any social medium is faster than any group or forum.Another downside, in my opinion, is a post that is not responded to, because of any of several possible reasons, remains unanswered and goes down and gets cold. Scope of it resurfacing is almost zero. Thus, advantage is getting extra quick response, and disadvantage is no facility to setup the posts in any systematic manner. One can only search and study whatever he / she seeks, in slightly tedious one-by-one post reading. And query if any posted in old posts, may not get a quick response compared to what one gets for a fresh post. But, all the disadvantages are absorbed for the sake of getting purpose fulfilled.Personally, I am for social media to get quick response for conducting my study, and very strongly for group, to lay down my contributions in a concrete manner.Regards.Dinesh

It is certainly a good idea to revive our efloraofindia.I agree that facebook is a good platform but what is happening on facebook is totally different from what is happening here. One biggest plus point of facebook is having members, not all but many of them are addicted, many of them show of their knowledge and many of them just copy paste. BUT, having said this, the message their reaches far beyond the message from our group can reach. But I wish to see efloraofindia standing at same place as chinese virtual herbarium. Chinese Vertual herbarium and the flora of nepal website are very professional. Our is also professional, but facebook is not. Please also remember that facebook is banned in China. For a person like me who is less active these days due to lot of office work, its easy to say yes have the family fortnight or the genus fortnight. Still I would say, go for it.I also understand that few of our stalwarts kind of went off the group due to some odd, disheartening messages from some members. But if you have tolerated me, I am sure you can tolerate him for some more time.Rest is all to the top experts and active members of the group.Best regardsPankaj
