It may be Swertia chirata of Gentianaceae.

He thought it to be a new species! Unfortunately nothing can be done now because most of his collections are lying without any label due to his premature demise.

Actually this photo was taken by me from Blue Mountain NP, Mizoram, and I was unable to identify this. Then I sent to MK Pathak Sir. But it was unknown to me that he sent it to you for id. 
After that he passed away. 
Anyway I kept it as Swertia nervosa only.

Sorry. Considering cordate, sessile lower leaves (though not very clear), it should be Swertia alata only as per keys and discussions at Swertia nervosa (Wall. ex G.Don) C.B.Clarke
