Thank you very much Mahadeswara ji.
Shall we coin a name in Kannada for this endemic, on lines of Marathi name - जांभळी रानहळद jambhali ranhalad ... literal meaning, purple wild turmeric.

Thus, is any of the following make sense ... ನೇರಳೆ ಕಾಡು ಅರಿಸಿನ nerale kaadu arisina OR ಕೆನ್ನೀಲಿ ಕಾಡು ಅರಿಸಿನ kanniili kaadu arisina ... these are my attempts using Google Translate, may not be perfect.

Regards.
Dinesh

Hello Lalithamba ji,
I glanced through Flora Andhrika; Curcuma decipiens is found near Godavari, though rare.
Shall we coin a name for  Curcuma decipiens ?
Is ఊదా అడవిపసుపు uda adavipasupu, making sense ? It is on lines of Marathi name - जांभळी रानहळद jambhali ranhalad ... literal meaning, purple wild turmeric.
Regards.

Dear all,
Ideally this plant should be under C.inodora.
C.decipiens from what I have read in literature is a plant described from approximately the same area as C.inodora with no type material, all of which was lost during World War II. You can refer the attached article for further information on the subject.
This flower is the typical form of C.inodora found in Goa, Karwar and Sindhudurg.

Regards,
Prejith

Hi, Sabu ji,
Are these images of C.inodora or C.decipiens (until both are published as the same)?
