Respected members,

Gagea lutea ?
Yellow Star of Bethlehem
Family - Liliaceae
Photographed at Hamirpur ,Himachal Pradesh
Altitude 700metres above msl
Dated - 3/3/2018

Experts Please help to confirm species , as the Genus is wide with about 11 species present in India and I can only find this single species of Gagea on the site with yellow flowers.
But I am doubtful about species as the altitude is very low and the plants were flowering from February as other image of plant on site is from high altitude (Lahaul) though plants looks close .

Best Regards
Ashutosh Sharma

Thanks Garg sir but I don't think it is Hypoxis aurea as it don't has more than one leaves at base, also leaves and scape are not long hairy like in Hypoxis aurea

I think Rawat sir or other experts may help to confirm.

Best Regards

I am sure it is not Hypoxis aurea...
Gagea lutea seems to be a right choice to me..and its observed distribution is not a big issue I think..

Hi, Garg ji and Nidhan ji, this is Gagea reticulata (Synonyms - Gagea pseudoreticulata)

I examined and photographed these plants this year also and during my recent visit to high altitude i also found G.lutea, so i rechecked it again.
In Flora of Himachal Pradesh Gagea reticulata is mentioned and after comparing with the images on gbif site i am almost sure that this is Gagea reticulata.
Here's the link
https://www.gbif.org/species/5300187

Best regards
